2016 Toyota TRD Pro Details Announced

Toyota has revealed all the changes coming to the 2016 TRD Pro off-road lineup.

For 2016, the TRD Pro treatment will only be applied to the Tundra and 4Runner with the Tacoma sitting out for a year. A TRD Pro version of the redesigned Tacoma is likely to arrive in 2017.

Toyota says that it is planning to build 9,000 TRD Pro units for 2016, though the split between Tundras and 4Runners is yet not available.

Changes coming to the 2016 Tundra TRD Pro follow in line with the revisions made across the Tundra lineup. That means the truck will have a new large 38.0 gallon fuel tank as standard equipment along with an integrated trailer brake controller, both of which were just introduced to the Tundra for 2016.

Inside, Entune premium audio with in-vehicle navigation and app suite now comes standard on TRD Pro along with black leather seating with red contrast stitching and TRD Pro logo.

The truck’s color palette has also been revised, now offering magnetic gray metallic (replaces black), quicksand (replaces Inferno) and super white which is a carry over color from last year.

As for the 4Runner, it remains the exact same for the 2016 model year, except for the color choices, which now mirror those available on the Tundra.

All of the important components remain the same, including the TRD remote reservoir suspension, TRD performance tailpipes and dual exhaust, TRD skid plate and 18-inch black alloy wheels.

Toyota also announced that the 2016 Tundra TRD Pro will be available in Canada for the first time since its introduction into the market.
