Refinishing carbon fiber

Can carbon fiber be refinished? I am interested in buying a used carbon fiber part which has very light surface scratches. Can this be buffed out and if so what products are recommended? I have never owned anything carbon fiber before so pardon my ignorance.

I have not worked too much around CF but my understanding is the finish is just resin--you should be able to use rubbing coumpound to get the heavy scratches and then buff it out with a finer compound--if the scratches are really bad I imagine you can wetsand it then buff it out. I would treat the finish of the CF to be more like refinishing plastic--anybody please correct me if im wrong

Ive got a spare piece of CF laying around-- i can see if that does the job or not

Thanks for the tip. I figured a good rubbing compound would do.

Can the resin be reapplied? I'm curious because I've chipped the bottom edges of my Crux lip and am wondering if they can be prettied up.

That I am not sure of. I would think so since it is a full cure item. It should be able to be scuffed and reapplied. I haven't done much with it so someone else may have more info on that.
