i used my vx2000 as my video camera this season. gave great footage, but bounced around too much on the sanction mounts(I/O and the Billet). i will be going to ChaseCam to avoid the oscilations and keep some quality.

Media: Transcend 4GB CF card ( $49 from TD )
So I used this setup for a couple years, until the PVR A1 died, which I think they all do relatively-quickly. I'd have probably just bought another, but they don't make or sell them anymore.

Last January, I bought a whole kit from DogCam Sport... specifically, this one;

http://www.dogcamsport.co.uk/mini-dv...et-camera.html

Unfortunately, while cheap, I can't recommend it. Luckily, they don't make it anymore, although they may still be blowing out old stock. The camera is low-quality, and their advertising is not accurate. It loses head-to-head comparisons with a 380-line ChaseCam.

The Mini DVR2 recorder was pretty slick, though, so I used it with my ChaseCam successfully for a season. The DogCam bullet has a nice feature in that can be powered directly by the Mini DVR2, while the ChaseCam needs separate power. I wired the ChaseCam directly to the car's power, so I didn't have mess around with batteries. That all worked fine... but this week, the Mini DVR2 stopped working. It doesn't recognize input from either camera. I'm waiting for word from DogCam to see if it can be fixed or what.

I should note that, based on my experience so far, I recommend staying away from DogCam. When I complained that their camera didn't meet the specifications they advertised, their excuses were 'Well it's really cheap, what did you expect?' and 'It must be your recorder'. The latter went away when I pointed out that I was using THEIR recorder. On top of that, the gear is dead after no more than 10 days' use.

Also, I broke my ChaseCam into two pieces. Turns out that, according to ChaseCam support, they don't recommend using the threaded hole on the rear of the camera body for repeated mounting. Over time, the body of the camera will fail, as mine did last weekend, and it'll break into two pieces. This too, may be repairable, but I wish I knew this a long time ago. Be careful with your bullet cams if you mount and re-mount them often. And one of the wires for the camera's battery pack has broken, just from sitting around.

At the moment, I have two dead recorders, at least one useless remote, one broken camera, and one very low-quality camera... and I'm not making any videos

I'm not sure where to go from here. No one seems to make a durable setup that can be run off the car's electrical system with a mount that I can use. None of this gear seems to tolerate winter very well. I guess I'm back to square one.

Some of you might love this very cheap, but well-received,
808 Type 11 minature hi-def 1280x720p 30 fps videocam
that costs less than $39 delivered, as reviewed here:

It's small enough you can safely tape it on your helmet or hat:

And for the geeks who want to know more: click

Don't laugh. This thing packs some powerful video into a small package.
