2GR rev2 sw20 build thread

Luckily I was able to find a rust free hardtop 93 for $1800
I don't really have a budget for the car, I can spare around $1300 a month for the build.
I'd love to have your opinions and advice on what to do to the car.
I'm more then happy to answer any questions you have.
Thanks!

That's a nice sketch, but please finish the swap and sort out the other mechanical items before investing in a body kit. Go before show!

Depending on how you shop and if you outsource anything, the 2GR build will cost $2-7k. I'm happy to help answer questions no matter if you buy my parts or not. I'm sure you've probably seen them but they are here if you have not: https://frankensteinmotorworks.squarespace.com/shop

Also, a quick heads up. I'm likely to be out of stock of headers towards the later half of April and the first half of May. I am getting more made but the order got bumped behind larger customers. So if you plan on getting those you may want to get those in the next 6 weeks or so.

Thanks for the heads up Marc.

What I have so far
2gr-fe from a 2010 es350 80k miles
Berk muffler
91 e153 and drive shafts.

I still need the Wilhelm raceworks y-pipe and frankenstein motorworks headers for the exhaust and a few other things unfortunately but I'll get there.

I do plan on finishing up the swap before doing much to the bodywork.

The wheels on the car are some kind of small Toyota steel wheels (195 f&r) that once I finish the swap I should have no issue going sideways until I get real wheels lol

To that end, I don't have any y-pipes in stock right this minute, but I have another batch on order. Should have them back in stock within a couple of weeks.

That’s my old car, there should be an e153 in it already, unless that’s your previously mentioned e153. I would get new axles and hubs. The axles are hybrid ones with e153 inners and na outers. If you have other questions about the car I can probably answer them as well. 7653667294 for questions regarding the car.

Thanks for the info. I'll add drive shafts to the list.

Anyone know if I should go with these or source an oem drive shaft? Thanks.

This is a quick a quick update to list all the parts I have so far

I've got the Wilhelm Raceworks y-pipe,
Frankenstein Motorworks headers and Berk muffler to complete the exhaust system I need.
I've got a pair of ChicoRaceWorks heavy-duty drive shafts and some Timken wheel bearings.
Frankenstein Motorworks engine mount,
Water neck, MAF pipe, ECU and throttle pedal adapter.
South Bend stage 2 endurance clutch kit and a Fidanza lightweight flywheel.
a Denso mr2 turbo replacement fuel pump and my modified wiring harness should be here in a couple weeks.
I've also got a Wilhelm Raceworks oil pan baffle on the way.

guess my next step is to remove my engine and take apart my transmission to see what I am working with.
Is there anything I should check on my 2gr(aside from changing the fluids and the odvious stuff) before trying to install it in the car?

(Edit) either my phone is failing to load the image or the quality of the image was messed up once uploaded, sorry : (

Good stuff.

I know some earlier 2GRs had a recall for oil hoses to the VVTi gears that liked to burst over time. I'm sure if you search around you'll see what the old vs. new hoses look like. Other than that, I think they're pretty solid engines.

Thank you for the heads up Def.
I've got a 2gr from 2010
I'm pretty sure they fixed that in 2010 or 09
