This will be the end of Toyota if this happens. BMW's cars have been getting worse and worse as the years have gone on. I changed the oil on the latest F30 3 series the other day and couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the plastic sump - it get's worse - the sump plug is plastic too!

well I believe the joint venture is going on right now. Considering BMW quality, my uncle has a x5 and his water pump cracked, something to do with it being plastic.

Ah yes, the infamous BMW plastic water pumps. They tend to fail every 40,000 miles. Keep that design crap as far away from Toyota as possible.

I just sold my 1996 E36 M3 daily driver.
I can't begin to describe what a relief it is to get rid of that thing.

add a 420+hp 8000 rpm version of the GR and really enjoy the ride

Garage
I'm pretty excited to see the result. Every time share a track with E30's I'm impressed by their cornering. Following them around the 65 mph sweepers right at the limit of their traction is awesome.

If 24 Hours Of Lemons is any indicator 1980s-'90s Porsches are typically jack-stand monuments, and BMW's take a licking and keep on winning. A Porsche finally won an overall after 104 races in the series, and BMW has dozens of podium finishes. Maybe the statistics just indicate that BMW is just more likely to meet the $500 max budget than Porsche: http://hooniverse.com/2013/12/19/lem...update-top-10/

A $500 BMW is probably a lot better than a $500 Porsche for reasons of budget rather than actual vehicle quality. Only the 924 and 944 have totally lost their value, though it does look like the boxster will join them in that category. I can not recall ever seeing a 911 that could come close to the $500 budget that was a large enough collection of parts to be considered a "car". On a final note, if Lemons was an indication of quality wouldn't we all have to drive miatas?
