Found a list of JDM colors offered in 1999 (I don't think they changed from 97 though) and I already had the names but needed the paint codes: http://www.ppg.com/MaxMeyer/CarColourRange/files/dataccr/Toyota/1999.PDF

3L1 -- (JDM) Super Red II -- Correct me if I'm wrong on this one...it could indicate the JDM 2 stage paint
3N1 -- Orange Mica Metallic
4N3 -- Beige Mica Metallic
202 -- Black
943 -- Dark Purple Mica
040 -- Super White II

Also, I think by 99, Sonic Shadow Toning was no longer offered.

Edit: Added a picture to show them

1500-4000 depending on prep and quality of the paint you are going to use.

I see what you are saying. Red Star has 3L1 listed as Super Red. That is to the best of my knowledge incorrect. Thanks.

It is absolutely 746

It is also referred to as Teal.

I have an Aquamarine Pearl 91 turbo which I'm going to color change to black very soon. Just bought a used OEM JDM 97 spec trunk lid and a new OEM JDM 98 spec rear wing/spoiler, both in black, so that the fitment would be exact, and no spolier holes would have to be drilled into my original 91 trunk. Anyway, both of these new pieces appear to have a clearcoat finish on the black paint. Can anyone tell me for sure which years "MR2 black" had a clearcoat, and which did not? Thanks a lot...

it doesn't work. If you want clear coat...you have to repaint the car with a black base then clear coat it.

Could someone tell me where I can find how many cars were produced of each color, each year? Is such information even available ?
I just picked up a 93T Yellow with black suede/leather and was told it was one of the rarest color combinations offered in 93 ??????? -
Thanks.

I don't know the build numbers but the yellow cars are the rarest.

"it doesn't work. If you want clear coat...you have to repaint the car with a black base then clear coat it."

8Legs: So with my color change from Aquamarine Pearl to factory Black, is the black base you're talking about the new black paint itself, or is the black base something applied prior to the factory black paint...? Sorry, clueless in this area.
