C52 parts

Has anyone recently rebuilt a c52? Have an 89 that I am getting close to being done with building the engine and its about time to get the gearbox knocked out.

Im just curious what anyone has used as far as a "rebuild kit" since there doesnt seem to be many options.

Hey Harry,

I'm in the same boat. I just got a $800 estimate to resurrect my "C-something" tranny. I'm retired now, so those sky high bills don't work for me. I picked up a used tranny to get the show car back on the road, in the meantime.

Like you, I'm going to learn how to make my other 2 C-somethings into at least one working unit as a back-up which I am "sure" I will need.

I've followed the BGB for 3 decades to do just about everything possible to keep racing and on the road. If I can build engines I'm sure I can follow instructions to make a tranny happen. I'm good with mics, understand shimming and preloading so I'll take the challenge.

I've seen bearings sets and sycros allegedly for the C-52 on ebay. But until I get the tranny apart and mic the parts I have no idea what the specs will be.

I'm not interested in 6 speeds or turbos since my car runs with the AACA. So let's keep this info C-52 or C-50?

Hey Tim, sorry I just got around to seeing this.

I never had any luck finding quality parts that ill want to replace when I do take it apart. I did find the ebay kits but I would almost rather just use the trans until it needs a rebuild than tear into it and put some cheap parts in. But im undecided.

Thats good it sounds like you have the skills and time to get the trans done no doubt, fortunately I have experience with manual trans rebuilds so I also would not pay someone to do it. Im used to air cooled Porsche trans but the c50/52 is pretty simple it seems !

TURNS OUT THE "87" TRANNY I WAS SHIPPED FROM ALABAMA IS A C-50 WITH A BLOWN 5TH GEAR. THE 1-4 GEARS ARE USABLE FOR THE TIME BEING. I EXPECT TO RUN THIS WAY FOR THE SUMMER AND DO THE 5TH GEAR REBUILD MYSELF ONCE TEMPS SUBSIDE. IF THE TRANNY DOESN'T MAKE THE SUMMER i'LL HAVE MY "MANUAL ONLY" GUY DOWN IN DAVIE, FL DO A REBUILD WITH THE 2 DONOR MATERIALS WHICH HE STATED HE COULD DO.
