What does this sensor do @ Rear of engine block

What does this sensor do in the photo?

Photo taken at the rear / back of the engine block.

Is it a knock sensor?

Dude,

You are flooding the forum with rather, basic, questions. Please do a search for each of your topics ahead of time.

Thanks

Sorry, I tried looking but could not find an answer.

I'll hunt a bit more first

Is it possible to delete some of my threads which may be duplicates?

Hi Chestor, thanks again for the comment (constructive comment I assume).

Regardless, after hunting more I found this:

So, its the knock sensor

maybe its a good thing to flood the forum with some questions, even basic ones! (sorry Chestor)The forum has been pretty dead the past year or so, so its nice to see some new activity IMO. I think many people now go to facebook instead of online car forums and / or have gotten out of the MK1 MR2 cars for one reason or another. the old Audi forum I go to is down on traffic quite a bit as well.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the positive comment Andy

I understand the perspective of Chester, but I'll be honest I felt his comment was a little harsh.

To be genuine, I do really appreciate the great people on this forum (Chester included) who are kind enough to take time to answer questions to inexperienced people such as myself.
I rely on the information of this forum, just as much as the BGB service manual. This forum has given me the confidence to keep working on this project and not give up.

Have a great day fellow MR2 friends

Ciao
