I've had dozens of offers for remote test mules already. It isn't feasible because this takes several attempts. I probably programmed the 5 plug ECU here at least 40-50 times for testing. if i shipped back and forth we'd be at it until 2017.

now if you can get the pigtails from the 2006 camry, that would be tremendously useful towards forward progress on this.

I have a immobilized rav4 ecu and two plug pigtails, they come are for the 2az, i don't know if that matters. I also am wondering if vvti power tapper is now changed, what does it mean for the powerband going to 7,200 rpm? will it be an increase of say 10whp or something like that or will it just be a continuous flat powerband?

I'll also check to see if my guys have any pig tails for the camry.

as long as those fit in the rav4 ecu they will work. I might have to move some pins around but that isn't an issue.

With the vvt-i changes i need to take it to a dyno but i'd expect that the peak HP isn't changed but it won't drop off as fast.

When driving it the power seems to start falling at 6800 or so and you naturally end up shifting at about 7000-7100. It honestly makes a huge difference in the feel instead of constantly slamming against the rev-limiter.

Really awesome progress Gouky! I greatly appreciate everything you do for the 2GR community. If I didn't already have an aftermarket EMS, this would be the route for me. Keep up the good work!

I don't want to clutter up the thread, but this is exciting, honestly.

I did a Google search of the PCB part number, and the wonders of Google brought this up: Index of /toyota

Has all of the PCB part numbers and locations of PCB flashing connectors. No pinouts, unfortunately. That would have been 100x more helpful, but TechInfo can provide that.

The pictures of the PCBs are pretty high quality, so at least you can compare things.

Yeah, there are tidbits of info here and there. I did build off some existing knowledge for some of this. Most of the info is in Russian.

The immobilizer disabling is the only thing i can claim to be 100% my doing.

I actually debated just releasing all the info like i have done on many of the other 2GR things i've discovered, but i have a fair bit of real money invested in this that i would like to recover and there's some custom hardware i had to put together to do this that isn't generally available anyways so i would not be allowing someone to do it themselves but rather i'd be helping someone else offer this service and profit from my research.

I think there's a pair of them coming my way already. but i'm currious, do you have a good source for those pre-terminated leads or the terminals themselves?

If this helps, I have a body-side pigtail and Camry ECU 89661-06G51 that I can send to you on loan if you need them for any testing and development purposes, but I would need to have them back.

no i had to change my 2010 harness around to 2007 and ended up with a bunch left over because i bought 2 of the bigger plugs with pigtails from a yard. i have a part number for the leads but they are $5 dollars a piece from toyota. i never got a chance to measure them and call tyco to see if i could source them.

gotcha, that makes sense.

and yeah, toyota wants an absurd price for them.

more on the VVT-I angles:

Here's the intake VVT-I angle table, notice how above 6250 the cams start advancing again?

The exhaust cam angles have a similar thing going on with them.

I'm actually pretty happy after seeing that map, it's very similar to the map i made for the AEM without the benefit of seeing this.

this chart pronounces it, but notice the plateau around 6250?

I'd be all about rolling up with a non-Lotus ECU, but we'd be relying on the referee to not question the presence of a manual transmission.. And that's still assuming the monitors would run. I'd need to look up monitor requirements for the 2GRFE car in question and then we'd need to hope that the monitors aren't drawing any sensor input from the now-missing autotragic.

But otherwise.. Yeah, the BAR process is stupid. Very few hard and fast rules.. lots of interpretation and nitpicking, regardless of the fact that these new engines fart daisies compared to the old 5SFE/3SGTE powerplants...

So did you just modify the map to keep the advance going to 6800?

Awesome work Gouky, I still though the toyota ECU was uncrackable .. but there you did it !
Can't send my ECU right now because I use the car, but definitly would like this modification done in the next months ...
It's a 5 plug ecu btw, overclocked by 11.11% (I can un-overclock it before sending it).

i modified them to keep going. the ECU just uses the last value if the value isn't on the table so i did not bother expanding the table. but for other tables like ignition and mixture i can expand the tables. of course i haven't found the mixture table yet, but when i do i can expand it.

I have spare ECUs, i figured most people would prefer a core style exchange.

but since yours is tweaked i'd really rather modify yours and return it to you.

there's no need to un-overclock it before sending it. the JTAG port is master clocked so the slave's clock is inconsequential.
